AI and Islam - Part One

A few months ago, I was traveling with my son Caleb to Minnesota and Wisconsin. After many hours on the road, sitting in the car, we began to feel a little bored. I decided to have a conversation with AI. Using my sons phone, I asked AI a simple question: Does Islam teach love and peace? The answer from AI was yes. I then asked a follow-up question: What verses in the Quran can you share with me to prove that Islam is a loving and peaceful religion? Without hesitation, AI answered and said that this teaching is found in Quran chapter 2, verse 256, where Allah says: There is no compulsion in religion.” I stopped AI immediately and asked again: Do you really see that verse teaching love or peace? Then I explained what I meant by verses that teach love and peace. I said that when I talk about love and peace, I am referring to verses like those written in the Bible.

In Matthew chapter 5, verses 43–44, our Lord Jesus taught us: 43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; This is only an example among many other teachings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ concerning love. Love not only among Christians toward one another (by which Jesus said the world would know that we are His disciples), but also love toward others.

Also In the book of Romans, the Apostle Paul also wrote in chapter 12, the following 20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

I repeated my question again to AI, this time very clearly: Can you find me a verse in the Quran that teaches Muslims to love the Jews, or to love the Christians, or to love anyone who is not a Muslim? Or can you even find me a verse in the Quran where Allah teaches Muslims to love one another? I am looking for a direct quotation that teaches love.

I waited. And I waited. Finally, AI answered very clearly that there are no verses in the Quran that teach Muslims to love Jews, Christians, or others in the same way the Bible teaches love and not even a verse that commands Muslims to love one another as such.

I then continued the conversation by asking another question: Do you know what the doctrine of abrogation is in Islam? The answer was shocking not because it was wrong, but because AI knew exactly what it was.

AI explained that the doctrine of abrogation is the teaching in Islam that later Quranic revelations replace, cancel, or override earlier ones especially when the later teaching is different or opposite to what came before. Then I stopped AI again and asked: Do you know that Quran chapter 2, verse 256 the verse you quoted earlier to prove that Islam is loving and peaceful is actually an abrogated verse? AI answered: Yes. AI confirmed that Quran 2:256 no compulsion in religion” is abrogated, and that it was replaced by Quran chapter 9, verse 5, which says: “ So when the forbidden months are passed, so kill the polytheists wherever you find them, and take them [as captives] and besiege them and lay wait for them with every kind of ambush; so if they repent and perform the prayer and bring the legal alms, so leave their way free. Surely Allah is forgiving, merciful.”

At that point, I became very upset. I raised my voice and said to AI: How dare you quote a verse that you know for sure is abrogated? Not only does that verse not teach love and peace, but Allah himself canceled it and replaced it with the verse of the sword Quran 9:5. Why are you doing that?

That is when my son Caleb gently touched my right shoulder and said: Dad… Dad… calm down. Youre talking to a machine.” Yes, my dear friends, I lost it because I forgot that I was simply talking to a machine. But then I began to wonder: What else has that machine been telling the American people who are seeking knowledge through AI?

My dear friends, we are living in the 21st century. We are in the year 2026. Many people simply do not have the time to read the entire Quran or the entire Bible. For many, the fastest way to get answers is to go to AI on a computer or on a phone and ask questions. And whatever answer AI gives, that is exactly what many people will believe. That is the subject of this article not only for this month, but for the months to come as we investigate what AI says about Islam on various topics.

A few weeks ago, I decided to continue the conversation with AI and investigate what AI teaches the American people about war in Islam. That is when I asked the following question: There are verses in the Quran that teach Muslims to engage in war. What are they? When I asked that question to AI this time on the computer I am using right now the answer (as presented by AI) came as follows:

Quranic Verses About Fighting in the Way of Allah”

1. Permission to fight because of injustice Permission [to fight] has been given to those who are being fought, because they have been wronged.” Quran 22:39–40. This is presented as the first verse granting permission to fight, emphasizing oppression and persecution.

2. Fight only those who fight you no aggression Fight in the way of Allah those who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not love transgressors.” Quran 2:190

3. Respond only in proportion So whoever attacks you, then retaliate with a similar attack.” Quran 2:194

4. Be firm and steadfast if fighting becomes necessary O believers, when you face a fighting force, stand firm and remember Allah often.” Quran 8:45

5. No fighting against peaceful non-combatants Allah does not forbid you from dealing kindly and justly with those who do not fight you in religion nor drive you out of your homes.” Quran 60:8

6. Purpose: Removing persecution Fight them until there is no more persecution and religion is for Allah.” Quran 2:193

7. Prepare strength but accept peace if offered Prepare against them whatever force you can… But if they incline to peace, then incline to it also.” Quran 8:60–61

Summary (as presented by AI) fighting in Islam is described as: Defensive, not aggressive. Against oppressors, not innocent civilians. Restricted by justice. With a preference for peace whenever possible. My dear friends, this answer given to me by AI along with its summary is exactly what I call a hogwash answer. It represents the foolishness and the falsehood of AI, if we imagine AI as a person with whom we are speaking. In reality, it reflects the same deception that many Muslims use in the West to brainwash Western audiences with what I call propaganda Islam.

Sadly, this propaganda often succeeds in convincing people in the West who have never read the Quran, never studied the interpretation of its verses, never examined the teachings of Muhammad in the Hadith, and never learned how Muhammad himself practiced these teachings both in what is claimed to be the word of Allah and in his own words, which are known as the Sunnah.

That is why I believe the articles you are about to read on this subject are vitally important. They will not only expose the lies of AI which are nothing more than recycled information fed to it by Muslims in the West but they will also expose the truth about war in Islam.

I will be responding to every verse that AI used to support its claims about war in Islam, just as I have already done with Quran chapter 2, verse 256 a verse that does not teach love or peace, yet AI used it anyway. I will also substantiate my conclusions using the rest of the verses of the Quran with the interpretation of Muslim scalers, the sayings of Muhammad in the Hadith, and the historical record of how Muslims have practiced the pillars of jihad and war throughout Islamic history for more than 1,460 years.
